Giving up on some kids...

It's week 6 of Term 3. I've tried my best to help the kids.. but I realised that I have to give up on helping some of them because they refused to help themselves. They did the Post Test today and I can see improvements in some pupils. I was really joyful about the results but also disheartened to know that there are the same 3 who still got zero. I'm gonna give up helping them. It's a battle within me. As much as I want to help, I think I should be fair to the rest of the pupils. I want to focus on other borderline cases. I'm giving myself a very realistic target.

It's gonna be Thursday tomorrow. Another long day.. P1 registration from 2.30-4.30pm and basketball from 4.30-6pm, then CGM till late at night. I pray for strength.

MIA from SMS and MSN

I realised that I spent too much time on MSN and sms-ing people. Thus, from today onwards, I'm going to cut down on my time on MSN and will SWITCH OFF my hp at certain timing so that I can MIA from the world and be efficient in doing that which needs to be done. Please do not panic if you could not find me. I'll get back to you again when I get back to the world! Hahaha!

Thanks friend! I am blessed!

Wow! I was blown away by the shock I received today. My friend gave me a Baby G watch! And this model has always been my dream watch ever since it's out in the market. So, thanks friend for remembering it and also blessing me with such an expensive gift.

Just want you to know that I appreciate and love this gift a lot. But I appreciate and love you even more. You are a precious friend to me. Keep going strong and be happy! Will be always keeping you in my prayers. Thanks friend.

*P/S: I won't be wearing it too often because I don't want to dirty it. Hahaha! Too precious to be stained by dirts and perspiration in school.

And yes. I forgot to thank my angel in the "angel & mortal" game in school for getting me a Clinique lip gloss! This is just something which I need as I lost my lip gloss. Thanks angel if you are reading my blog. Haha. I really have no idea who he/she is. My speculation is: A female, young, Chinese teacher. Cos guys won't know what to buy. My angel wrote on a 星期五周报 post-it pad, which I think only a Chinese teacher will have and will use. Next, her English is very fluent which means she is biligual. Haha. I'm not sure if my speculation is right... but we shall see! Thanks anyway ANGEL!!!

Finally!

Finally, I "sever all my ties" with NIE and NTU. Haha! I guess I won't step into NIE/NTU again unless I need to attend course over there. I'm taking a LONG break away from Boonlay! Had a super long Convocation with 600+ graduands this morning. I almost fell asleep. I finally wore a mortar board. I finally took a family photo with my mum and bro with me wearing the graduation gown. I guess dad would be happy if he knew that I've gotten my degree.

It's been a tiring week. So let the pictures do the talking.
This is my family!

My best friend ever since JC times. She rushed down all the way just to support me and she bought me my favorite chocolate! Thanks dear! I'm touched by your gestures!

Got down the wrong side of the bed...

I woke to the sms alert from my phone in horror this morning. I overslept again. Nowadays, my mum is no longer bothered by my alarm clock. So, nobody wakes me up even if I couldn't hear the alarm. I guess I must be really tired. I took cab again.

The minute I stepped into the school.. I heard my kids whispering, "Ms Goh is here!" They were waiting for me to run with them... And I failed them. Later on, I'm very sure they will bombard me with lots of questions again.

That's not all. I went to the wrong class. Then I brought the correct pupils to the wrong classroom. Hahahaha. I need more sleep!

And I went for massage yesterday. I should be feeling more refreshed. But my whole body feels sore. Is it beause my body is overworked? Or is there something wrong with my massage?

Finally one down!

Praise the Lord!! Last night's concert was a resounding success. All the teachers and students involved felt relieved that everything is over. We've all worked hard. Especially those teachers and students in the performing groups. They had spent hours preparing, rehearsing and training to perfect what they did last night. There were many scoldings to get them to keep quiet and behave themselves. I was glad that the students did manage to behave well for the actual performance itself. I wonder if anxiety was the cause for such good behaviours. Haha. My mum was impressed by the kids in CO. (OK, she just told me that those in Guzheng, Choir and Dance were good too!) I guess she didn't expect primary school children to have such a high standard in performing. Our students really did a great job! I'm proud of them too! Even the little angels (P1 & 2) choir gals were sooooooo cute and they sang very well. I think they really enjoyed themselves. Cool! I love the kids!!!

And I really thank God for bringing through the Olympic Month's "Run to Beijing" programme. The kids are really supportive of the programme. I see children running during recess, after school.. even after 5pm! And I was surprised to see some ex students running too! Haha. Now, I have problems trying to record their participation more effectively. I was glad to hear a few colleagues commenting that this is a good programme. Many colleagues showed their support by walking with their classes. I'm looking at continuing this programme for the rest of the year. One colleague said that we should not just stop at Beijing but continue on to other countries that had hosted Olympics before. What a great idea! He'll help me source for a system to help make recording of participation more effectively.

Alright. I shall stop here for now. Going for NE show with the P5 today. Another whole day gone just like that. But I think I'll enjoy myself with the kids. I'm sold to my school... Hahahaha. All for the kids!

Long day everyday...

This is really a crazy month. I've been leaving school late everyday. Mon I did all the preparations for Olympic month, Tuesday rushed here and there to give assembly talk then rushed to Airport road for dessert with Elaine and Mrs Chan-gobbled half of my prata in 10min then ran back to school again to be a judge for SGEM. By the way, it's Elaine birthday yesterday! Happy Birthday! We went to Airport with Gwen and Lynn to celebrate with her! I'll upload photo when I'm free.

Today we had rehearsal for the school concert till 6pm. Tomorrow I have basketball till 6pm and need to attend make up CGM. Seriously, I'm feeling tired. Very tired of travelling for any CGM. I want to have a good rest at night-Watch TV and sleep. For now, I need to catch up on my marking and sleep.

Till I'm free again...

Busy July!

Yesterday was a busy day. But it was an interesting day too. Thank you my dearest angel for buying kway tiao for me for breakfast (You know who you are). I went into a P6 class to teach HE and was surprised to see some China exchange students in there. In order not to bore them, I decided to use Mandarin to teach my HE lessons. It's really not as easy as it seemed. I find it hard to find words to describe what I want to say. Plus I'm so used to using English that I kept using "so", "then" as connectors to link up my broken Mandarin. Haha. I think my students had a good laugh yesterday.

After lessons, Wendy, Wendi, Lynn and I quickly rushed off to have our Thai rice for lunch. Gobbled everything up in 15min was a terrible thing to do. Then we had our concert rehearsal till 5pm. After rehearsal, my colleague accompanied me to put up signages for the run for Olympic month. By the time we were done, it's already 6pm. It so happened that she cycled to school too. So we cycled home together.

On the way back, I felt nauseous. When I reached home, I had stomachache and diarrhea. So I stayed at home and rested. Have been sleeping really early lately.

Lonely day..

Elaine is not here today.. so no one eats lunch with me. Plus I'm only free to eat now at 3.30pm. No more food in the canteen. But thank God I brought my chocolate digestive biscuits today!! That's my lunch today. Thanks Lynn for the Vitasoy in the morning. It sustained me the whole day! Not too bad. Can save money since I ate crab yesterday. Can have a Vitasoy diet for a few days. Hee! All my friends went to ISD.. so I'm left here alone.

Sad! Totally not in the mood to do work. Haha.

Random thoughts..

There are many things that I want to blog about since last week but I haven't got the time to do so...

Recent happenings caused me to hate irresponsible and selfish men. So I feel a little resentful at this moment.

I remember Pastor Tan shared 2 weeks ago that Eve was created to be Adam's Helper. So the instincts of women is to help men to fulfill their destinies in God. However, many men didn't have a vision for themselves.. So, many women turned to church, wanting to carry the vision of the Pastor by helping the pastor. How true!!! I think I always have a tendency to want to help men. Maybe I've been helping too much. I won't want to help incorrigible men anymore.

Been thinking a lot lately too.. I know I've become more and more selfish after going through all those hurts. I don't want to put others before self. I think my previous experiences had turned on the protective gears to shield me from anything more than myself. God, I want to lift these all up to you and be able to be selfless again.

Educator's meeting with Pastor Mike Connell was very inspiring and refreshing. I really felt that passion for teaching all over me again. I love my kids. I want the best for them. Pastor said scolding is a way of showing our frustration by using abusive words to shut them up. I hope I can stop scolding and use firm words that cause convictions in the hearts of my pupils. Help me Lord, I pray.

Overcoming disappointments.. I guess I have many. And they are really hindering my intimacy with God. I recognised that I feel tired spiritually. Really feel like giving up but yet God seemed to be pulling me back by the messages that was preached recently. What else do I need to do?

Be thankful in all things!

I am thankful that I am busy.. cos that means I have something to contribute.

NOTE: I am not complaining.. I'm just writing down some concerns and reminding myself of the many things on hand.

I think I'm really starting to be very busy and burdened. It's already week 2 and I just met my Maths class for the 1st time today.

The P4s are having their NAPFA test 2 weeks later on a Mon.. and I haven't even stepped into my P4 classes yet!! I doubt they've been taught how to do the 5 stations. I'm really worried that they'll fail. With no proper teaching of how to do the 5 stations and no training at all.. I think it's gonna be a tough time managing these few classes that I have.. With these limited time, I still need to help out in NAPFA tomorrow, Friday, next Thursday and Friday and miss all my PE periods. Man! I hate this! I want to teach!

I'm taking basketball for CCA tomorrow. Felt saboed by the previous teacher in charge. He told me he doesn't mind taking the P5s.. Today he came and asked me if there's CCA tomorrow. It was then that I realised that he's not coming to help me tomorrow. And he hasn't settled the coach. So I got to take the P3, 4 and 5 myself from 4-6pm. Gosh. I hope I can manage. I don't like a big group. And the attendance is in a mess. Need to talent scout more players too.

1 BIG stack of Maths workbooks not marked.

My Olympic month proposal had been approved.. So I need to start preparing for everything to launch by next week.. Do I have the time?

Our school Cultural Night is coming up.. I'm doing publicity for this too. Anyone wants to help by buying a $35 tix?

Out of the blue, I was told to recce Pulau Ubin with the P6 teachers.. I guess I'm unknowingly roped into their planning committee too?? *Puzzled* I don't even teach P6. My blog song is so true at this moment.. "everybody wants a piece of me".

Once again, I'm not complaining. I'm thankful that I'm still alive to do all these. I just need God's strength to sustain this hectic life. I still love my job!

Yet another busy day!

I'm feeling really tired now. Had a really busy day. Travel all the way down to NIE in the morning to collect the gown and time flew past just like that. By the time I got back to school, it was already 12.30pm. So I quickly helped to set up the equipments for NAPFA test. We briefed the teachers what to do and I was in charge of conducting warm up exercises before sending the kids to their respective stations. For the 1st time in my life, I did a set of warm up exercises for 9 times repeatedly from head to toe. As it was really noisy, I raised and strained my voice to make myself heard. I think I need a loud hailer or a portable mic soon. I was really exhausted by the time everything ended at about 4.45pm.

That's not the end of the day.. I shifted my "home" in school again. Finally moved my things down to a table in level 1! Took some time to tidy up the table.. (it's still v messy and pack as the previous teacher left me a lot of resources) After the dismissal of the PM session, I went off to KK Hospital with Yeejia to visit our colleague whose daughter is sick. Really pray and hope that her daughter will be well soon.

So, I got home at 10.30pm and now it's already 12.40 midnight. Gosh! I better sleep! Another long day tomorrow!!!! On course from 2-5pm. I need my beauty sleep!
